SIT is that Professional Centre which leads learners to acquire practical skills, expertise and understanding necessary for employment in a particular occupation, trade or group of occupations. It works in partnership with its key stakeholders such as businesses and other trade organizations. As its motto “Steps Towards Success”
stipulates, learners at SIT are provided with the opportunity to progress in their training programme of choice with the possibility of moving from one level to another. The SIT offers fulltime training at Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma represented as level 3, level 4 and level 5 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF) Seychelles. Advanced Diploma, i.e. level 6 on the NQF, is taught on part-time basis. Apprenticeship training is at the level of certificate (level 3 on the NQF) SIT also works with organisations, business and services background to provide other tailor-made training programmes SIT is situated along Diolinda Avenue, in the Industrial Estate at Providence and has a capacity to take 600 students full-time on campus. The SIT programmes are designed to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills and the maturity required in the employment. SIT graduates entering the labour force are job ready. Learners complete a work placement programme to learn how to apply their skills in the workplace. This unit component is compulsory on every programme. SIT is a recognized centre of UNEVOC, the International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training .
