The Department provides training in Carpentry and Joinery Skills and Plumbing Installation System. While on training at the institution learners follow the theoretical sessions and apply practical skills in the workshop. The learners also have the opportunity to upgrade them practical skills when the go for work base experience in industry.

The full time programmes available are Advanced Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery (2400hrs-Two year full time) and Advanced Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery (2400hrs-Two year full time). The Department is also offer these two programmes at Certificate level for Apprenticeship learners (18 months). All the programs are already received full accreditation for 5 years from SQA.

An apprentice has to sign a contract between him/herself, the employer and SIT, whereby the employer will release the learner at least one day per week to attend on-campus sessions at SIT.
